Or is talking at length about tea nerdy? My tea obsession that has finally come to fruition was years in the making. It started when an ex of mine drank tea all the time. See I was a coffee guy, you know how you just now started drinking Starbucks? Well I have been drinking Starbucks for years. I was going to Caribou coffee before you even knew what a Caribou was. End bragging. Well one day she tells me about this awesome tea combo she had at Caribou. Peppermint and Chamomile, combined in one bag...but how could this be? That's when I started to do a little tea research, and found out Tea is fucking crazy. You can probably name two or three kinds of tea. The stuff in the bag, green, and now thanks to Snapple, White tea. Do you know that there is Red tea or what about Oolong? Did you know that herbal teas aren't really tea at all?
I already knew that I liked iced tea, I knew that from a young age. When pre-made Iced Tea was invented my parents were way into it. Nestea came in a carton kind of like milk and I don't think I was supposed to drink it cause it was expensive. Well I used to sneak sips all the time. I loved it. They then switched to Crystal Light powedered iced tea mix. I use to drink that by the pitcher. It was amazing.
So then I saw the tea episode of Good Eats and he made loose leaf tea and explained all the different kinds of tea and even how to make simple syrup(which I go through a lot of nowadays). I then hit the interwebs and did research on losse leaf tea....for a YEAR. That's right for a year. I could never find the right tea pot or the right leaves, then like a beacon of great tea light I found Adagio teas. I bought some Mango tea and their amazing InginuiTEA tea pot. It's a plastic tea pot that you put tea leaves in and pour in the hot water then let the leaves steep and put the tea pot on top of your cup that you want to drink the tea out of and the tea drains out of the bottom leaving the tea leaves in the pot. It's brilliant, and I really think you should check it out. In fact right below this is a FREE $5 gift certificate!! EDIT: The gift certificate link might not be working....email me if it's not and you want one.
