196-Rehearsal And Dinner

So Friday night I got home from work with just enough time to get dressed decently and drive to the best man and groomsman #2's house. They went to go pick up their tuxes and I scoured the internet looking for E3 news. I then watched E3 coverage on their giant HDTV. Once they got back we made a mad dash for the chapel, because we were running kind of late. We made it to the church with only seconds to spare, only to find out that the bride and groom were going to be late. You can't have much of a rehearsal without the bride and the groom.

Once they got there we met the really enthusiastic minister who would preside over the ceremony. He was way out there and kept laughing at things he would say. I don't know I guess he was kind of cool. One of the things that me and groomsman number 2 would talk about the last few days is, who we would walk down the aisle with. We knew who the best man would walk with(the maid of honor duh) but we didn't know any of the other bridesmaids. So I was quite relieved to find out that the bridesmaid I would walk down the aisle with was the groom's sister. Who is also his twin, and I have known her just as long as the groom. It's been a long time since I have seen her, but at least I knew her and felt more comfortable walking down that long aisle. The rehearsal was quick and pretty painless. Just knowing our cues and when to turn and face people and such.

We then went for dinner at a place called Finely's Grill Room. It was really cool, and I tried a couple of different wines. I always thought I might like wine, but really...I don't. I can't get into it at all. The two wines they had were nice and I was able to finish them, but I don't think I would just go out to the store and get a bottle. Maybe when I'm older. My parents seem to really like wine now. There was a great chicken pasta salad that had bleu cheese in it. I am a huge bleu cheese fan, and was the only one at the table who ended up eating it. So I had a couple of helping. Seriously it might have been the highlight of the meal. One of the appetizers were these great big fried cheese sticks with this really spicy marinara sauce. They were amazing. Dinner was some Italian chicken dish I couldn't eat(It had mushrooms on it) and a really good marinated skirt steak. Some of the best steak I have ever had. Also they had these really good skin on, garlic mashed potatoes. Dessert was key lime pie cheesecake squares, I had never had key lime pie before and I wasn't prepared for the tartness. Once I got over that though, I thought they were delicious.

After dinner we went to the groom's place to pick him up and take him back to the best man's house to spend the night. This was the first time I saw his house that he had built recently, and from the outside it looks HUGE, but once you go inside it's kind of small. It's very weird. The house is very tall but you find out that when you get in it, you walk up into the house. So what you think is an upstairs is really just the house. Just one floor and a modest sized finished basement. It's really nice, just very deceiving.

On the way to the house we saw a horrific accident on the opposite side of the tollway. There were cars crashed into the median, a car flipped over on fire, and a ton of cars pulled off the side of the road. Talk about a fast response though. There were tons of emergency vehicles on the scene and the traffic was just coming to a stop down the road. So it had to have just happened. Not to mention we were driving in that same spot about 20 minutes prior.

So we made it to the house and I made the appropriate arrangements for the next day and I was off on the hour journey home so I could get five hours of sleep and start my big day as a groomsman.
