063-Comic Books, Comic Books, Promises Of Things To Come

Alright, I left you for two days, sorry. I don't have a lot of time to myself with these long hours. I do have some comic book stuff for you though. First....here is what I am picking up this week. No pre-reviews...sorry.

Transformers: Infiltration #6(of 6) (IDW Publishing)
Civil War: Front Line #3(of 10) (Marvel Comics)
Ghost Rider #1 (Marvel Comics)
Ultimate Spider-Man #97 (Marvel Comics)
Wolverine: Origins #4 (Marvel Comics)
Punisher #35 (Max Comics)

So there you go, pretty small amount for the first two weeks of July, but next week sounds like a doozy. Oh, and that Punisher book came out last week, shows you how pathetic my comic reading is.

Ok...so what's coming up for the site..lot's of comic reviews(you get 2 right now to hold you over), a story about a woman I work with and "people's" views on sex vs. violence(gasp! a personal post!) the rundown on how good I do at this weekend's big Heroclix Sinister Marquee Wizard World Chicago Invitational Tournament(phew!), and maybe just maybe, my triumphant return to playing WoW(World of Warcraft). Oh and I might be buying a PC so stay tuned!!

New Avengers #20 (Marvel Comics)

Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Mike Deodato Jr.

So the Collective arc ends with a crazy tie in to Morrison's New X-Men, which I love, and by the way is coming out in Omnibus form!!! Xorn apparently turns out to be the collected powers of every mutant or something like that. I should re-read it to catch the full gist. It comes after Magneto, who of course lost his powers in House of M, and takes over the body of just some normal dude. Even with "Xorn" defeated this Michael kid still has powers....and might just become a hero. Also in the end Magneto is arrested and Shield finds his autobiography he was in the middle of writing. So the arc probably could have been one issue shorter, but the payoff was great. 4/5

New Avengers #21 (Marvel Comics)

Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Howard Chaykin

Avengers Disassembled begins, for those who aren't "in the know". Avengers Disassembled will be a 5-issue arc that ties into Civil War and will focus on an individual member and how they are dealing with the events. This first issue focused on Captain America and his efforts to start an underground movement AGAINST the registration act. The issue is pretty good, but..oh boy here it comes. Chaykin is a comics legend, and I see where his art would fit, but it's not here. I understand that Bendis get's to work with one of his idols, but it just didn't work for me. Luckily the story saved it. 3/5
