This is a continuation of the reviews for books that came out the last two weeks of June. I just read comics for the first two weeks of July. Those will come later.
Civil War: Front Line #2(of 10) (Marvel Comics)
Writer: Paul Jenkins
Artists: Ramon Bachs, Steve Lieber, Leandro Fernandez, Kano
So the main story here is set after Peter Parker reveals himself to the media that he is Spider Man. It shows the press' reaction to it. A pretty neat little story. The second story though is getting to be a lot more interesting. It shows how Speedball is in jail and is taking the blame in the press for what happened with Nitro. Pretty hard hitting stuff. This book is definately a must read if you are reading Civil War. 5/5
Astonishing X-Men #15 (Marvel Comics)
Writer: Joss Whedon
Artist: John Cassaday
Wow, Joss really knows how to tie up loose ends. The new Hellfire Club makes it's stand against the X-Men, and wow, they are fucked. All the X-Men are "handled" one by one until there are none in the mansion. The final pages show a pissed off Kitty ready to get her revenge on the now evil again(?) Emma Frost. It's been brewing since issue one, and I can't wait to see the outcome. 4/5
Young Avengers #12 (Marvel Comics)
Writer: Allen Heinberg
Artist: Jim Cheung
Well the first main story of Young Avengers wraps up and the book will now go on a hiatus for some time. I heard rumors of Decemeber, but those are just rumors. Young Avengers has been in my top 5 books since it's release and was hoping that it went out with a bang. Thankfully it does, as a full on Skree-Krull war breaks out over Teddy(Hulking) and he decides to surrender and spend six months with the Skree and six months with the Krull while making return visits home and then choosing who he will side with. Along with that Kate becomes the new Hawkeye and sure enough Wiccan and Thomas ARE the children of Scarlet Witch. Should be an amazing book when it returns, and I can't wait for their Civil War series in the meantime. If you haven't picked up the book yet, then just chill out cause I am sure they will release a Hardcover with all 12 issues in it. However if you are reading the book you know how amazing it is, I loved it and can't wait for more. 5/5
Moon Knight #3 (Marvel Comics)
Writer: Charlie Huston
Artist: David Finch
Well from one top five book to another we go to Moon Knight and once again nothing but amazing stuff out of this book. I don't know how else to review it other than you better be reading this book. I can't even explain it, it's just amazing. As long as it doesn't slip into delay hell this book will easily be a highlight of every month. 5/5
Ultimate Spider-Man #96 (Marvel Comics)
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Mark Bagley
The short and quick Morbius arc concludes with a misunderstanding, the saving of Ben Urich, and MJ and Peter slowly rebuilding a friendship. The arc was quick but the ending had a nice payoff, but of course this was all just a bump in the road onto what should be the best arc since "Carnage" or "Hollywood". Next issue is the start of the Clone Saga which includes issue #100. So USM is a great read as always, but really it just felt like a bump in the road. 3/5
The Ultimates 2 #11(of 13) (Marvel Comics)
Writer: Mark Millar
Artist: Bryan Hitch
The goal of The Ultimates was always to make it...feel like a movie. Well it doesn't get much closer than this. While it takes.......FOREVER for a new issue to come out (I think this one took over 3 months to come out)The Ultimates still manages to shock and amaze. It's hard to do a recap of what has been going on, and a lot happens in this single issue. You either read The Ultimates or you don't and why you don't I will never understand. Millar is one of my favorite writers and Hitch is an amazing artist they are telling one hell of a story here and with two issues left before they leave the book forever they are on one hell of a streak. 5/5
All Star Superman #4 (DC Comics)
Writer: Grant Morrison
Artist: Frank Quitely
While no one is a hundred percent sure what the fuck is going on in these All Star books exactly I have to say that Morrison's Superman is the first time I have been intrested in Superman in a long time. Seeing Quitely's artwork for the first time since WE3 is a great sight and of course I have become all goo goo for Morrison since Seven Soldiers(WHERE THE FUCK IS ISSUE 1!!!!). It's pretty apparent that the story is meant to jump around and it's nowhere near perfect, but I will continue reading cause it has me intrested which of course the horribly awful All Star Batmand and Robin did not. 4/5
Justice #6(of 12) (DC Comics)
Writer: Jim Krueger
Artist: Doug Braithwaite, Alex Ross
Krueger and Ross' take on the Justice Leauge of America is mind blowing. The artwork gives me chills and the story is too fucked up to try to explain here. If you have ever wanted to see the JLA turned upside down you need to check this out. If you have been missing this series there is a horribly overpriced hardcover of the first four issues due out soon(if not out already) so maybe check it out, this book is amazing. 4/5
