So yes...I got into the beta test for Call of Duty 4. I didn't like any of the previous Call of Duty games, but I think it's cause I didn't care for the settings. Bringing it into modern day perked me up a bit, and I was blown away by the footage shown at this year's E3. The graphics looked top notch, it felt like the first time I saw footage of Splinter Cell running on the Xbox. The stuff shown at E3 didn't reveal a whole lot about game play, but then they announced an open beta on the 360, and I knew I had to get in so I could find out if there was finally a Call of Duty I could get into.
So after spending a few hours with the Beta I can say that the answer is yes. I love the leveling up, I love the controls, I love the graphics, and I think the way it plays is great. It takes a couple of matches to get your bearings straight, but after that it becomes a lot of fun. So far the highlight for me is fighting side by side with your team and seeing the words (Friendly Airstrike At Your Location) and seeing everyone run for shelter. Then watching your confused enemies get blowed up.
So it's safe to say that come November if I can pull myself away from the other 100 games I'll be playing this Fall I will definitely be fighting for or against my country in Call of Duty 4.
